I would like to create a thread that once-and-for-all (yes I know, I'm a hopeless idealist) deals with both sides of this issue, and can then be a link for all. Please contribute any relevant links and threads to this post, whichever side of the line you fall on.

P.S. I am quite obviously heavily biased towards never co-habbing corns, but I will refrain from jumping all over any who disagree in this thread. Let's try to go for intelligent discussion rather than flaming. After all, I personally would like to get to the crux of this argument, and let all the relevant info and data become available in one place, therefore allowing any new owners to make a TRULY informed decision. (And it should be very clear that if you wish to set up a thread such as this for yourself, it would be useful for the whole community to do so, and I'll even be nice enough to say you can link it to this thread) :) I'd love to be doormat-like enough to set up a completley un-biased thread, unfortunately that isn't going to happen! We all wish for the best for our snakes, soooooooooo..........*rubs hands together* let the games begin, mwahahahaaaaaaaa!

1. This is redundant. This topic has been discussed to death on this forum. This would be just another one added to the already enormous list of cohabitation threads.

2. Most people don't seem to read before asking anyway.

First off, we have to make one huge assumption that I feel is completely wrong...

We have to assume that the newbs who are interested cohabitation do a search for the topic before starting their own threads. Obviously, the fact that countless people keep starting threads to ask if co-hab is okay, tells us that nobody is searching for answers before they ask. If they were, they wouldn't need to start more threads.

However, let's pretend for a minute that they are doing a search before starting their thread. The only way there can be a successful end-all, catch-all thread devoted to the subject of cohabitation is if said thread was composed entirely of keywords and phrases that are likely to be what searchers are using as they keywords. Co-habbing isn't exactly a cohabitation search friendly term.
The thread title would have to be more along the lines of: Cohabitation Housing more than one snake Can two snakes live in one tank Can I house two snakes together Co-habitation Two snakes, One house...will it work? Can muh sanke live wit anutter sanke?.......etc and on and on.


I'm not saying this to be mean. I've thought many times that it would be nice to have threads that people could just refer to everytime the subject comes up. It's just very difficult to come up with threads that will get a hit everytime someone does a search on that subject. Everyone uses different search terms to find the same material.
This is all assuming that people are doing search in the first place, which most aren't.


It would also be nice to have a thread that everytime someone asks you can reply with a link to that thread, but eventually you get sick and tired of having to reply with a link to the other thread everytime someone asks if they can co-hab.


And then you lose your train of thought and end your reply....

Hmmmmmmm. Both valid points. Bummer, failed experiment. :cry: I just wanted to try as I seem to spend time and energy once a week answering the same question and having the same arguments, so I have contributed to some of the many threads out there. Too much to dream that we can have all the info/rants/links in one place? Maybe I should have an answer ready and just paste it in...........
 
Well, it was a nice idea. But like Zach said, most people don't read before starting a new thread anyway. There is a wonderful FAQ section that JoeJr14 made up. It is located at the top of the forums and answers nearly every question a new owner could possibly have. Yet the same questions are asked over and over again, day in and day out. Why? Because people don't read first.
