Corn Snake not Eating

I live in California. I am new to this forum, but not to corn snakes.

My female albino corn snake is about 13 years old. She has had no health problems except for a couple years ago. She suddenly tried laying a bunch of oversized misshapen eggs. It required a visit to the vet. That was the ONLY time she wouldn't eat.

It has been 20 days since she last ate (not a huge amount of time, but of concern if it continues). The last time she showed interest in eating was 5/15. She ate the next two feedings, but was obviously not really interested. She has refused to eat since around 6/5. She is healthy (no mites or anything I can see). Her habitat is a 30 gal tank with hidey places, a climbing log and a large water bowl. She has an undertank heater. She shed shortly after she last ate. For feeding, I dangle a live mouse in her tank. She comes up, wraps around it, constricts it, and that's pretty much it. She has ALWAYS been aggressive towards eating and has never shown reluctance to eat, so this behavior is not natural for her.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated ...

Thanks for writing back. I've only tried mice. I thought of a different method of feeding her (I've heard of smaller tank or a paper bag or just placing the mouse in the tank and letting my snake "go for it") but I'm afraid she'll get bitten. When should be become really worried?

I had one today that hadn't eaten for 3 weeks her regular FT weanling. I put in 2 rat pinkies and she chomped them up. Not the best solution, but when they aren't eating you gotta get something in them.

Have you considered the possibility that she may be going to lay eggs again?

As an aside, it sounds like you feed her once a week? That's actually a little too often. Feeding every 10-14 days makes for a healthier female snake.

My actual dates may be a bit off because I feed every 10-12 days.

I'm hoping she's not getting ready to lay eggs again. She's way too old, and they were not "normal" ... splochy and misshapen and waaaaay too big. It cost a fortune at the vet before. She had to be put on an i.v., they "induced" labor (so to speak) and had to go in with a hook in order to move the largest egg which was blocking the others.
