corn snake size

I bought a corn snake and the guy I got it from said it was a year old (this august) he said it was kind of small for the age becaue it was kept in one of those tiny tanks, those plastic ones, then I bought anohter one, and he said it was born in july, of this year, so it is a year and a month younger, yet they aren't really that much difference in size, my first one that is a year old is thicker and maybe a little longer, but not much, just thicker and stronger. anyway, does the size of the enclosure matter, if it is kept in one of htose liitle like cages for a year?

No, the size of the enclosure does not effect the animals growth. The amount it is/was being fed and the health would be the major factors. Some places (shops and some breeders) only maintenance feed their snakes they are selling. If you were to see the snakes they kept for themselves that were born at the same time there would be a considerable size difference.

yea now my first oen is growing good. But it just isn't that much longer than the one I just got, whihc is only 6 months old, and my first one is a year and 5 months, but you can deffinetly tell the difference, the older one is way thicker and stronger, the young one is really thin, well compared to the other one, but they are both relativly the same lenght, but ohwell, they are growing now in my care.

I have a yearling that has ample space and plenty to eat. She remains quite small despite...only about 30 inches. Some have growth spurts earlier than others I suppose.

Genetics is a big factor as well. My two largest snakes are only a few months apart, yet my amel is almost a foot longer and about twice as thick as my aztec. I think they are just that way.
