corn snake vs sand boa

I'm looking to get a snake, I have been a tarantula guy for the past couple years and wanna add to the enjoyment, right now my decision is between a corn snake and a sand boa what are your thoughts.
Thanks

corns are absolutly ideal as a first snake...
they are extremely dosile, low maintenance, relitivley cheap, and they have the most fantastic morphs!

They dont grow too big, on average between 3-5ft

but they do need specific living conditions, like all reptiles and exotic pets...

look through the FAQ section, im sure this will help you a lot.

i do advise you to carefully read up on both snakes before you purchase either... you need to know what your doing with pets like them :p

best of luck

I would go with a corn snake. They're very forgiving even when the keeper ignores simple husbandry rules. But please do read the FAQ section, it will cover all of your basic questions. :)

Corn snake vs. sand boa... round one, fight! :grin01:

I'd vote for a corn, too. But then, you know, horribly biased and all.

I have many corns and two sand boas. You will never see the sand boas unless you dig them out of the substrate. They are not above ground dwellers like corns. they're great snakes, they just aren't showy. If you're looking at a small boid, I would go with either a rosy boa or a children's python. Both are small and fairly visible, but not like corns.

It's a new SCI-FI ORIGINAL MOVIE....... "Cornsnake vs. Sand boa......no matter who wins, mankind loses!" :grin01:

Chris Olson

I also have both, and would probably suggest a corn as a first snake. They are alot more interactive and visible more of the time. Though sand boas are pretty cool little boas that are very docile (most of the time.) Sand boas also have the "so ugly they're cute" factor. But all in all, corns make a more interesting first snake.

both :shrugs:

If I were to pick one, I'd get a corn snake. If it's your only snake you're gonna want to see it and hold it pretty often. I think a corn would be a better fit.
