corns living together...?

ok so im a bit new to the corn snake shabang, and i want to know if they are good living together? say, is it ok for two cornsnakes to live together as hachlings until adult? what about if you have one hachling living in his environment and then another the same age comes and rooms w/ him later? i have read that it is ok, and that it isnt, and its confusing! i searched this forum and didnt find anything, thought i would be easier to just ask u experts

Most people will suggest that you do NOT house your snakes together, myself included. Do a search on cohabitation and try some of those links - I'll try and find some of the better ones for you.

A one-word response counts for practically nothing. If six people answered this thread, three of them say "yes" and three of them say "no"; how are you supposed to make any kind of deduction from that?

Keeping animals is not a case of do this; do that. You need to understand why they do this and why they require that. You stated yourself in your original post...

The answer to your question is no, cornsnakes should not be cohabitated at any age or in any combination. This is because corns are essentially solitary animals and do not need or benefit from a companion, and in fact another snake with them could be detrimental. Being unable to escape the other animal leads to stress, and stress leads to possible feeding and shedding problems. If one snake regurges, you won't know who it was; and fighting, breeding and even cannibalism can occur.

Actually, if you asked 6 people here, 5 would say no, and one would say yes. There aren't any good reasons anyone can give me that would show co-habitation to be good for a corn.

I don't quite understand your point Meg. My 3/3 was only an example, and yes, I agree that co-habbing is not good. I said so myself in my original post. My point was that you can't just take a "no" because someone just says it; if you don't understand WHY it is a "no", then you can't be expected to make informed decisions.

thanks for the responses! And i probably should have worded better that i WISH it was a yes or no question, but as i said, not that simple...but as i can see by many people and many threads/posts ive read its generally not a good idea, i just wanted to know in case i decide on getting another little corn at this reptile show next month. I already was leaning on the no side of the question, but with all your good points, and great references, i can def be there
