Corns tanks

Hi there. i just received my tank today for my first corn snake. Which i will be going to go to the store and pick out tommorow..... Okeetee or Albino ?? too hard to decide :p. Soo my question is this. Will this tank be good for a full grown corn snake. The corn snake book by kathy love states that a full grown can be minimumly housed in a standard 20 gallon which is 12 inches wide x 30 inches long x inches high.

The cage i got is more high then long yet it is quite large... if i had not lost my digital camera cord i would take a picture but for now i will give dimensions and hope that some of you may take the time to measure and help me know if it will be good. It is 18 inches wide x 18 long x 24 inches tall. It seems to house numerious anoles at my petshop it is a very nice tank. I got it as a gift soo naturally i want to keep it but i just dont know.

Will this tank be sufficent at keeping a full grown corn snake or should i take it back and search for a longer yet less high tank. Any input is greatly apreciated. Also i would like to get a very large tank but... lets be realistic not all of us have the money to put into somthing large. If this tank is not sufficent i woud like to know how long it would last till i have to upgrade. Thank you soo much for your replys. Take care guys.

For a full grown corn you will want more ground space than height. It will probably do for a year or so, but if you have the opportunity to get a 20L that would be a better long term viv.IMO

You could always turn the viv on it's side and use the top opening lid (if that's what it has) as a front slide up. That's what I did with my 20 gl. I didn't have as much space in my rack, and the viv's are higher than they are thick. It worked out perfectly. Yours would then give your new corn more floor space that they like. I should suffice for a good long while until you have to move up. It certainly wouldn't be large enough for an adult.
