Craft project - Snakey scarves

Dragonling

Doesn't do "casual"
With the start of Autumn and cold weather looming, I've been thinking about picking up the ol' crochet hook again to make some fun wearables. Scarves are usually a dime a dozen, but I was wondering if there might be some interest in corn snake shaped scarves and maybe even snakey-themed hats. I could probably do a large variety of morphs and might try a few different species upon request. I've found a few patterns I could buy and modify, or I may attempt to make my own.

I know hand-crafted stuff can be expensive, but is this something anyone would be interested in this winter season?

Possibly upwards of $30-35 depending on the pattern, kind of a lot for a scarf. It all depends on how quickly I can make them + cost of materials. I'll pick up some yarn this weekend and see what I can come up with. I actually have an idea for my own pattern I'd like to test out.

Cool, I'd love to see what you end up making. You should definitely post pictures here once you've finished one.

After finding this post, I was inspired to make one myself ~ I got the pattern from https://www.etsy.com/listing/80448174/digital-pdf-crochet-pattern-for-snake

Excuse the pajamas and messy hair.

Ya know, I'd found that pattern but I worried that double thick fabric might be too much, but the pattern I came up with feels a bit thin now. Tougher to get clean edges too. I'm still working out the markings. Might be easier in felt or fleece.

Yeah, markings would be neat, but I'm not quite crafty enough to come up with my own pattern.

I do really like how this one came out feeling though, it's super warm and cozy so I can't wait for it to be cold enough to use. I'm thinking of making another with a random color changing yarn.

If you come up with a pattern, or make one in fleece, please share =D

That is super cute! But I don't enjoy yarn scarves :( I don't really like yarn in general lol. But you've made it look so amazing that I might have to change my way!

I completely forgot to post this...my tentative paper pattern for markings over a test scarf:

Going to look into fleece applique techniques. I don't have much sewing experience, but I think I can manage something decent. Suggestions welcome!
