Hi, I've seen alot of you on this forum are very crafty and often make your own stuff for your snakes. I was wondering if anyone had made their own hides. Not the ones out of boxes, tupperwares, and toilet paper rolls. But ones made to look like real rocks, or tree branches?

Im picky about my snake stuff, and rarely find stuff in the stores that look how I would like them. I was thinking of trying to make my own out of plaster, the kinda stuff that you have kids make their hand prints in. Non- toxic of course. If you have any ideas or tips on how I could do this I would really appreciate it. Also if anyone has tips on how to paint them to make them look real that would be great too. Paint and sealant used would also have to be non-toxic.

I would really love to hear what you guys think.

oh wow..thank you for the links.. i didnt know what to search under. i hope i can find that stuff. and get the colors i want...then i wont need paint. oh im excited now... i was thinking of lotsa differant thing i can make.. i may have to alter my plans cause the size i want to make it.... wont fit in the oven.. humm... oh i could make pieces that could fit together like puzzel pieces... sorry just thinkin out loud.. oh i gotta go to bed no so i can get up early and get all this going...whoohoo..

Thank you alan. I think the link is wrong... but styrofoam would be easy and cheap... but if they got poop on it...how would you clean it off??

humm.. so I was excited to go to the craft store..and forgot that it is closed on Sundays. So I went pet store touring instead.... and with my tax return.. got myself in trouble... got new larger vivs, a stand and two chameleons... Ive never got money back from my taxes, so I couldnt think of a better way to spend it than on my critters.
