So, especially for those of you who use Layne Labs, about how much space does a package of 25 frozen pinkies take up? It would be more economical time and money wise for me to order "bulk" (tiny tiny bulk though it be) rather than jaunting down to the pet store every couple weeks, but I do currently share a freezer with other people. I guess it rather depends on how the mice are packaged, but if I can fit them into one tiny door shelf I'm good to go.

I'd probably end up going with Layne Labs (but am open to suggestions), so if people want to comment on general opinions of the quality of the mice/packaging that would be cool too. Do they happen to come individually vacuum sealed for instance? How's the size distribution (ie. if you order "normal" sized pinkies do you end up with all fatties or all runts or some reasonable distribution)? :)

I've never ordered layne labs, but I vacuum seal the pinks that my mice produce. 25 would be like an envelope... Just a couple square inches.

I got my order in today, so I can finally answer!

Very little space, 25 of the large pinkies came to a 3x6" bag. So I think it'd be the way to go if it saves you some money. Even in the insulated bag and with dry ice my order (10 1 day old, 25 large pinkies, 25 small fuzzy, 10 large fuzzy) still fit in my freezer door taking up about the same space as a 125 Ziploc sandwich bags box only with more height. However upon unpackaging, my whole order could fix in the sandwich box.

They're not individual packaged, I've only seen that from artic mice which seems very convienent but probably why it's $11 for 4 pinkies lol. Mine were all seperated by size with the name and quantity labeled on them. Very clean, no blood, and no more than 8 broken off pieces per but those were mostly the pinks. They are very true to the weight ranges listed and I haven't come across any that were mispackaged. I didn't weigh my last 10.

I hope that helps. I have some pictures too if you need them.
