Day/Night Cycle?

I don't have anything yet, but will go out tonight after work to get stuff and get my tank running smoothly before I buy the little guy. Is a cycle needed? I am going to get a UTH. Now, I have problems with light sensitivity and get migraines quite a bit, so the light in my bedroom is usually off. So the snake would get not much light. Is it a good idea to get a light on top and set it to a timer so he gets 10-14 hours of light, just like in the wild. I am guessing his sleep pattern would be all goofy without light and he may get all stressed out, and we all wouldn't want that now do we?

Could you maybe turn the light on during the day when your not home? Or open the curtains? I don't think the day time hours have to be exact or anything. They really don't need much light (brightness). Some peolple here use rack systems, and those only get so much light during the day.

Yeah, Kimbyra idea is good. I do use a light with mine on a so called cycle, no timers or anything like that, just plain fish tank light. I just turn it on when I leave for work and at sun set turn it off. Mainly because the Viv are in a dark area, with no natural light coming in during the day. But somtime I forget, but no fret. The light is mainly for me when I work with the snake.

i have red lights onm ine on a timeer they het the heat rite for the day time then they turn off at nite to let the temp drop abit

I have a 4ft fixture hanging from the top of one of my shelves along the back, (the dark corner), and have it set to go on at 6am and off at 6pm. I also have plants on the shelves, so they block a lot of it as well as the tanks. All this takes place while I'm at work with time left over so I can see/work with them on when I get home. I'm light sensitive too and found one grow bulb and one full spectrum doesn't bother me like the cool whites.
