Dead vs. Live Feeders Question

The only way I can think of to "stun" is like you said, to hold it by the base of the tail and hit the back of the rodents head on a countertop or some other edge like that. The only time i see that as usefull is in converting stuborn snakes to dead food, by seeing the prey twitching they think its live and will usually take it, after a few feedings you try dead. If you do it too hard you kill the mouse/rat if you do it to easy you have a really angry rodent in your hand.

When dealing with a lot of snakes and a lot of different species something like this will be nessacary eventually, though it isn't one of my favorate parts of snakekeeping, if I have to do it in the best intrest of the reptile I do but it is very rare that i have to. When talking to a friend one time about how snakes are great, undemanding pets she said to me " I don't think I could have a pet that has to eat other pets ".
That is something people will have to think about before bringing a snake home.
