When i come to decorate my new snakes home (viv) is it ok to use aquarium items such as the skulls or castles as a hide? This is just for while she is a baby, i dont think an aquaruim decoration would be big enough for an adult corn.

Aquarium decorations are safe to use in that they won't have any harmful substances on them, but you do have to be careful about design. Some of them have small areas inside where a snake can crawl way up inside and get stuck (fish too, for that matter!). A skull probably wouldn't have any areas like that, but castles might. Logs also seem to have issues like that.
 
I wouldn't be worried too much about there being harmful substances on them...if they're safe to go in an aquarium, they won't have anything harmful on them...fish are quite sensitive haha. But as stated before, just made sure there are no small holes that your corn could possibly get stuck in...and if there are, you could seal them with some kind of non-toxic sealant.
 
Even snake hides have hidden areas you can't get them out of. The big bare tree and the little tree trunk with the huge holes are two I can think of. You can seal off the big tree which just has a hole in the base, with aquarium silicone, but to make the little tree safe you have to chop off the blind limb. (Search for thread Lost and Found Jasper to see what I mean!)
 
Keep in mind also that your snake is likely to poop all over them. Usually people are looking for "furniture" that is easy to clean or disposable.
