defrosting mice

Some snakes need stinky mice that smell like mice or hate wet mice. Several of mine prefer dry mice so mine get thawed in baggies. If I think about it early enough in the day they get pulled and thawed in the fridge then heated. Otherwise I thaw in warmish water, then heat up with hot water after they're thawed.

I'm usually thawing small pinks-adults so thawing in cold water keeps the pinks from cooking and squishing. I just keep changing the hot water out, feed the smallest mice first then by the time I'm done with that the adults are nice and hot.
 
I generally put the mouse in the bottom of a coffee mug, then pour boiling water into it. Takes less than a few minutes, and I have a piping hot and delicious mouse for my snake.

The coffee cup leaves little room for error in my case.
I have to get up every morning at 5 a.m. and I'm still pretty "out of it" until I have that first cup of Folgers. . . . I can see me about half asleep, and not remembering that the night before, I had used the mug to feed the snake. .. . . That'd be a real shock to me system once I woke up and remembered it !!!!!!
