Hi all!

I'm posting about Felix. He's my little amel who has been having regurge problems. I noticed a bad shed in his viv this morning and so took him out to help (humidity was 50% :shrugs: ). After I got the old skin off I noticed that his skin has a wrinkle running down his side. I've seen others post pix of similar things and the conclusion usually was dehydration. I'm wondering if it's because of dehydration or if it's because of the regurges? Here's some history as it helps to explane the situation I'm in.

Jan 17 Felix came home :) 9g
Feb 17 10g
Feb 24 first regurge :(
Mar 5 fed half pink
Mar 8 second regurge
Mar 13 10g
Mar 18 fed pink head
Mar 25 fed pink head
Mar 29 third regurge
Apr 8 fed pink head
Apr 11 9g

Before he started regurging he was on a pink every five days with no problem.
If he is dehydrated is there much I can do to help? I remember reading someware about putting Gatorade in the water. Is that a good idea?
Sorry I can't post pix. I was just trying to take some and my camera was out of batteries. Any help would be good. He's so thin, I'm worried about him. :cry:

No, I haven't been able to find any. I was using GSE but stopped when the vet gave him the paste. I think it is supposed to do the same thing :shrugs: .
 
You really should order some. Kathy Love sells it on her site, www.cornutopia.com for $10. I bought a bottle and it arrived within 3 days. 1 bottle should last a really long time because you don't use very much. Just a pinch on the butt of the mouse. My amel regurged 2 times and then I got Nutribac and he hasn't regurged since. For him I use it every other time I feed him. For my normal who hasn't ever regurged I use it every third feeding just as a preventative. Kind of like people taking Vitamin C in winter.

My vet gave me some dry powder that you mix into a paste and feed with a syringe for snakes that are really ill. It is a high protein/fat based mixture to help add back nutrients. If your snake is dehydrated it wont be able to hold food down until that situation gets fixed. Try holding it in your hand and putting his head down into the waterbowl to allow him to drink. sometimes they just dont find the water well when they are ill.

Also, I have some nutribac , several bottles that havent even been opened yet. If you can't get your hands on some I will just mail it to you. I am in kansas so I know it would get to you quickly.

I have taken in many sick snakes to help others nurse them back to health so I tend to keep all this stuff on hands and will help you in any way I can. It sounds like you are at a critical phase with this little guy. Email me if I can be of help [email protected].
 
Thanks everyone, I guess I need to get some NutriBAC! I'll go back to adding GSE until I do. When I took Felix to the vet I asked if he needed a probiotic but she said it wasn't necessary. I can't see it causing any harm :shrugs: .
