Describe Ice Ghost?

Mick

New member
Doh! Now that I know there's a Lava/Anery A combo out there called "Ice Ghost", I guess I better put it in the program. Anyone willing to take a stab at a short description of what one of these looks like? (I can't see most of the pics on the board, still not sure why.) TIA.
Regards,
Mick

Sure. :)

They're actually pretty neat looking snakes. The normal ghosts have much clearer color divisions, and they're grey and white, for the most part.

These Ice ghosts are the color of vanilla ice cream, and the colors are more blended, with the markings creamier and more blended looking. They do indeed look like they've been glazed, they're quite distinctive.

Joe will probably follow up, but heres an excuse to show off a pic of my girl!

This is Rio an Ice Ghost (homo Lava & anery A)

Ours looks very similar to that pic. :) (Isn't that helpful? hehe)

They are a lot "lighter" than standard ghosts, and have a "flesh tone" to them (that inner glowing "pink/purple") like very light pewters and Charcoal ghosts can.

Nagah's avatar is an ice ghost's head. The rest is similarly colored. :)

Ice Ghost Adults

Mick,
I currently have the only adult Ice Ghost, so I will try to give you a description of them. I will start out with the hatchling when they are born. Their back ground color is bone white, with only trace amounts of a pattern. Their “V” on their head is blue, which also occurs on other morphs, but the Ice retain it into adult hood, although it darkens. The Ice Ghost have blue eyes with dark ruby pupils.

The Ice Ghost can vary like other Ghost, but the majority of them have very reduced black pigment into the adult stage and retain their bone white/grayish background color. The under lying colors present in the breeding stock the Ice come from is revealed nicely in the adults, due to the very reduced amount of black pigment. The adult Ice that I have now have a cast of pink on top of the whitish/gray back ground color and between any remaining gray color which is very distinctive. The yellow on the sides of the Ice is also revealed and combined with the pink on the whitish/gray background gives them a very colorful ghostly appearance.

The photo attached, for those who can see it, is a comparison photo between a regular Ghost and Ice Ghost, which to me shows how different the Ice really are. I was just looking at this Ghost yesterday, because I am feeding my colony heavily at this time. She is actually a very light ghost and not nearly as dark as she seems in the photo. The Ice Ghost next to her is almost “Translucent”, at least in the areas that should be black and any underlying colors show through very nicely.

Adult Male Ice Ghost

This male Ice Ghost is one of the first two that I ever produced. He has turn out to be a very unique corn.

Clutch

Here is a clutch of hatchlings which contain a few Ice Ghost. They appear to be "Snow" Corns at first glance, but obviously not at closer inspection. The other clutch mates are Lava Corns, Anery het Ice, and Normal het Ice.

Ice X Normal het amel/anerya/lava

Off the top of my head, I believe this clutch is a result of the Ice Ghost male above bred back to his mother. She has proven to be het for amel/anery a and Lava. The amel gene is floating around in all of my outcrossed Lava project snakes. I suspect that this Ice does not carry the amel gene.

Here is another photo after they shed. I was taking the photo of the Ice, but a Lava stuck his head in too and you can see the anery and normals under the shavings.

Ice X Anery A het Ice

Here is a clutch of Ice X Anery het Ice. She was possibly het Ice before this test breeding. Still no amels, but either one of the parents could be het amel, but one is most likely not, due to the lack of amels in the clutch.

anerys

Hey Joe! I don't suppose you have any of those anerys for sale? This actually can go out to everyone. I'm looking for an Anery type A that is male & I would love for it to be zigzag too. It can range from an '03 CB or an '02.
Also, can anyone tell me what color morph this is? The next post will have a closeup of his head. Thanks!

Actually, he has neither. His pupils are black, but the colored part is orange to match his body. His belly scales are white with faint gray & orange (together) in small patches. He has faint black lines around his saddles and he is 1 1/2 yrs old (same as pics).
