New member
twig was due a feed yesterday so i got him a pinkie out in the Morning wen i got home i gave him his pinki he ate it and didnt do his homer simpson impression and slob out on his log so i thought that maybe he was still hungry:(
So i went and defrosted him a pinki (ran it under the hot tap for 20 mins) and gave him that one and he gobbled that one up 2!
he then proceeded to slob out!
is he to young to be eating 2 pinkie I----------I that sorta big he is only 10 weeks
he hasnt regurged anything yet tho (thats good right)
HELP HAVE I DONE WRONG:confused:

Hot tap for twenty minutes?? Just make sure you don't actually cook the mouse. Lol.

If Twig didn't want to eat the second one then he wouldn't have. I feed my hatchlings two pinkies a week- not at the same sitting but still. It isn't a problem unless he gets a really big bulge in his middle, in which case he'd have some trouble digesting. If he snatched it out of your hand then he must have had room for more. Don't worry

P.S. Totally off topic but I just wanted to say that little Artemis (my Carolina) is ready to move on to hoppers. I'm actually quite proud of her cos she's only six months old- big girl.

wow 6 months and already on hoppers!! cool . . . . . ..

yeah i agree w/niel, if your baby couldnt manage the pinkie it wouldnt of taken it, , , , , , , , , thats what i started doing anyway, experimenting with food items, i was feeding stella a pinkie every five days, then moved to two , then three, then fuzzies, i think now she may be able to move upto hoppers,,,, but im not sure!! :S maybee i should start up a new thread and ask!! lol

Don't worry, Twig will be fine. If she wanted 2 mice and ate 2 mice then she can certainly handle it. Corns can handle quite a bit of food, much more than you'd think.

I wouldn't worry either.
Some snakes can handle more food than you can think of. I usally leave a couple of mice in with my yearlings and see how much they want to eat. If they take it, it's good. If not that's fine either. I let them choose. But for my hatchlings I just give them a pinky and will try two pinkies once I feel that they can handle it. And I am usally right about that.
So I would say that if he is willing to take the second pinky in, it'll be fine. Just don't handle (that is for long periods, just picking him up and putting him back to it's enclosure doesn't count...) it at least 48 hours after eatting....or else too much stress can cause regurgitation...

dont worry

Don't worry about two pinkies *LOL* I have had my Amel get into mouse cages before on accident (while he was AWOL) and he ended up eating at least 6 or more pinkies.

he was fine.
