digestion + shedding

hi if anyone could help me with my questions it would be greatly appreciated:sorry please bare with me

I recently picked up a baby candy cane corn snake and i love him. he seems to be doing fine although he can be irrittable at times and hides a great deal, but i'm not sure what could be causing it. He's been eating and i keep his tank between 70-80,85ish with a electrical heating pad (the temp tends to fluctuate). i haven't seen him poop yet or smelled anything and i have fed him twice already since i got him about a week ago. so i've been concerned about that. he tends to stay on the cooler side of the tank so he may not be hot enough for complete digestion??? also i'm not sure when he is going to shed. i didn't ask the pet shop when he last shed, but i try to look for the indications. i haven't tried giving him a bath yet to help him with pooping and maybe shedding, which could be the cause of his irritablility. ok one last thing. sorry ahhh! (i have done my homework, but stilll...) i am going to school in a couple of days and my roommates tend to keep the temp about 65ish. should i add lighting for heat along with my heating pad. i don't want hie to over heat. Thanks!:)

How much do you feed him in one feeding?
You might want to wait until he has pooped before feeding him anything.
He should have a spot where he can access a temperature of 85ºF and the rest of the tank should be in the 70's. This is necessary for proper digestion. If you can't get the temp up to 85, get a bigger heat pad

re-arrange your cage

My 6 mo. old anery stopped eating for a period of about a month a while ago. I noticed that he would always be on the cool side of the tank, and I thought that maybe he was tryig to hybernate seeing as how it was winter. Anyhow I took the rocks and shelters out of the cool side so if he wanted to hide he would have to go to the warm side. Well, next time I tryed to feed him he fed and has been doing so ever since. Hope that helps!
