Disinfectants/cleaners

I'm trying to find a disinfectant or some kind of cleaner that I can use in my tank and on the ornaments..I'd rather not just use a bleach solution, as I'd have to be extra careful to rinse everything off a few times, and avoid getting it on my clothes or other fabrics. I've been looking at ZooMed's Wipe Out 1 & 2, and ESU's terrarium cleaner (), but I'm not sure which would be best. Wipe-out 1 & 2 seem to be the same thing, just labeled differently; ESU's product says it's good for cleaning the glass for better viewing, as well as acting as a deodorizer, but says nothing about any disinfectant qualities it may have.

What would you suggest, either of these products or something I haven't mentioned that you prefer using on your setup? :shrugs:

I've use liquid dish soap, a little bit of Bleach, and hot water. I use the common plastic Sterilite containers. After I have emptied out the bedding, I hose down all the containers with water and put in some liquid dish soap. I fill each tub w/ 1 inch of water. The spray from the hose makes the water suddsey. I then add some hot water and one teaspoon of bleach. I let the water sit for 20 minutes , then scrub and RINSE WELL . Then let it air out and dry in the sun for a couple of hrs.

I've been using this method for several years and never had any problems.

Sorry, missed the part about you not wanting to use bleach . Quess you could leave that out and just use the soap and hot water.

Think of how many mothers around the world have used chlorine bleach to disinfect their babies diapers and cloths. They have been doing it for 50 years and are still doing it.

The really important thing is the rinse. All of the soap and cleaning products need to be completely rinsed out.

Diluted to 1 or 2 teaspoons to a gallon of water, there isn't much risk to 'innocent' fabric material. The biggest risk is when you dispense the bleach from the bottle, but just be extra careful, and your golden.

you can also use Nolvasan :) its super great at disinfecting without the harsh smell.. you still have to rinse but not as much as you do with bleach :)
