DIY Light Timer?

Kaleidescope_Eyes

I was looking at the thread about making your own Rheostat for cheap and I was wondering if there is anyway to make your own timer for cheaper as well? My roommate has several herps so she bought a timer for the lights. It has four outlets to be used by the timer; two of which are daytime, two of which are nighttime. She has three tanks though...

So you electrical guys and gals out there, has anyone made a DIY light timer with multiple outlets before? If not, do you think you could?

Several years ago I had a small timer for my coffemaker to start it in the morning. It was a small plastic unit that plugged into the outlet, then you plug your device into it. It was adjustable for on/off cycle and time. I don't remember the price or where I got it, but I know it was inexpensive or I would not have had it.
How about a christmas light timer?

timers are quite cheap, actually. i found one at the hardware store the other day, it had 4 plugger-inners (outlets i guess) and it was only 12.99

really? I wonder why then the reptile ones cost upwards of $30?

Because it is for reptiles.. *shrugs* I used to get the coconut bedding for my corns.. It cost me $7 for a brick at the pet store.. The 99cent store had the same brick for. you guessed it.. .99 cents.. Its called Cavet Emptor..

Timers at Walmart are about $5. Why rig up something when they are that cheap ?

So true but my friend bought that one and it broke after a week. She just assumed they all would I suppose. PLus up here in HumCo, we don't have walmarts. =(

But thanks everyone, I think we'll take a trip to the hardware store instead of relying on specialty products. :)
