So... if anyone sees a gorgeous 3' dark-colored Normal corn running around the neighborhood, tell him to come home, his Mommy misses him!

Sigh

I cleaned out his cage last night. He watched the whole time and even came out for a little bit of attention and holding, which he normally hates. Well, apparently I didn't get the latch on the lid to "click" like I thought. I'm normally VERY cautious about that so I don't know what happened. I woke up about 5, his lid was pushed part way open... and he's gone. UGH. I've looked everywhere I can think of. Going to keep looking... he's a good size, so should be easy to spot when he decides to resurface. I just hope he wasn't able to get outside... our house is very old and has a few "escape routes" to the great outdoors.

I figure he'll get hungry soon as he's been a champ at feeding. We breed our own rats, so if he didn't sneak out of the house like the teenagers try to do, he'll probably surface in the rat room in a few days.

I feel like a bad mom. Then again, with 20 snakes, I suppose we're doing well. Only 3 other escapes in the past few years, and all were found within a day or 2. One within a few minutes, so our track record is good.

Good Luck. Remember watch those cats and dogs if you have them. Thats how I found my last escapee. He was in a tub suppose to be charming a little lady I walk in the room and she is sitting on the lid and he is gone. So I watch the cat that was in the room and sure enough she was following him around the house and I was able to catch him (by his tail) as he went under the door into the furnace closet.

Definitely a good method! Cats and dogs can sniff out things amazingly. My boyfriend's mom lost a hamster recently and all she had to do was follow my cat. Hamster found!

There seems to be a lot of success stories on here with escapees being found. Definitely remain hopeful! And of course, let us know if you find him!

I would say there is a pretty good chance of finding him. :) My cousin's snake Snookie recently got out. His dad was freaking out-he hates snakes(I don't see why). He found her within a couple hours, and she's only about 9 inches long. Good luck and happy hunting! :)

My sister's snake got out in a house with five cats and two dogs, and he was found perfectly fine weeks later. So don't give up!

Well as everyone else said watch dogs/cats.But you could also make a bottle trap(link here). You could also so leave hides out with a mouse in it.I also would leave towels around on the walls. Those tree things should also be put near heat sources. Also put flour on any vinyl, tile and any wood floors you have to see your snakes trail.
A spot your snake moving around is to stay up late at night and try to look for your snake moving around.

If you use tape traps, use painters tape or masking tape *not* anything super sticky like duct tape.

I have had two snakes (babies) escape. One escaped twice, while I was living in a two story house, & both times, I found her on the main floor ( the snake room was upstairs). The second time, was the beginning of winter, & she was out for almost two weeks. I didn't think I'd find her, but I did, she was curled up under a towel, near a door I didn't use much. I had the towel there to keep drafts out. It had just snowed & I ws going outside to put snow in a bin for my ferrets to play in, & when I moved the towel, there she was.

My baby Cali King has gotten out three times, fairly recently. The first time was my fault. The bin was not in securely. The next two times were all her doing. She's too smart & figured out how to push the bin out & get out. I found her fairly quickly all three times.

There's a thread on here about a local guy who's snake got out & was recently found, outside, after 8 months.

Don't give up. Majority of the time you do find them. :) Keep looking. Double & triple check areas. Look in places you wouldn't think they would go. I've heard of people finding lost snakes in purses & back packs.

I'm going to be doing some "spring cleaning" this weekend, so it will be the perfect time to look for him. Hubby works the overnight shift, so I don't even get my cleaning starting until 9-ish... I'll just turn the lights down a little lower & keep an eye out. He tends to be very active after midnight, so I'm hopeful. We have no closets in our house, so I'm going to be going through the shelves where we keep some of our clothes, and our collection of motorcycle gear, maybe I can luck out and he'll be camped out in my helmet, or hubby's gloves lol.

The first day I brought Calluu home she got out (I thought I hear the latch click)

I found her later that night while getting ready for bed curled up in my underwear drawer, using my bra as a bed.

I hope you find him.

look in the dish washer!! thats were we found our brat that escaped during feeding..
