Do corns get fat?

My baby cornsnake that weights 12g and is about 4 months old was fed today. I was gonna put him back but he was still in feeding mode for some reason and not in flight mode so it was difficult to put him back without getting bit lol. I was wondering. Next week, Can I give him two pinkies just to make him more happy or do corn snakes get obese? I know Ball Pythons do not but I'm not sure about corns.

Yes, snakes do get fat. Personally, I follow the "one prey item 5-7 days" feeding schedule. Be careful with feeding too much, you could cause regurgitation. In general, corn snakes are very good eaters, and many will eat too much if given the opportunity. Be patient, your snake will grow. :)

Below is a great care sheet from Don Soderberg(south mountain reptiles):

Hope this helps

Now that I think about it. It's not really a good idea for me to do xD. Once he gets older the max I can put him in is a 20 gal tank so I don't want him getting huge lol

Yup, like braingarble said, they most definitely can get fat. The pictures of fat snakes are certainly amusing (in my opinion lol) but it's obviously not healthy for the snake.

It's rare for a baby to get fat, but adults definitely do. Corns are opportunistic feeders, so they will keep hunting for food even after they're full.

they all grow. different rates,
but I git my boy at 14 grams and he was 4 months too! so he sounds about spot on for his age! :)

12g sounds pretty good for a 4 month. As Justine said, they all grow at various rates, but 12g definitely sounds in the "normal" healthy range for a corn of that age.

As a side note, obesity in snakes (especially when over fed or power fed for prolonged time) can easily lead to fatty liver disease, reducing the overall lifespan of the snake and increasing risk of death. There's a lot more to consider than just how big or fat it will get.
