Do corns swell with ovulation?

ShenziSixaxis

Sticking To The Ceiling
So I pulled out my colubrids to eat tonight/early morning, and I noticed that Lotem is not only in shed, but she also seems really thick. Tonight was one of those "wow, [snake] is REALLY growing!" nights for me with her, as I noticed she's heavy, has rounded shape towards the last half of her body, and her head is sort of between "baby proportion" and "adult proportion". The first half of her body looks normal to me.

Since it's getting towards spring, I figure maybe she's ovulating? She simply doesn't look right to me, but she doesn't look fat either... so that's why I'm thinking this. So do corn swell up like BPs and boas when they ovulate? And could I get some pictures of ovulating corns if so?

I can't find out where my CS book went, and I can't find any info on this on Google, so I figure I'd ask.

If you need pictures of Lotem, I'll get some in a few days after she's done digesting and shedding. I don't want to stress her any more than just my "holycrapwtfisthis".

OH! And she ALWAYS produces a lot of poop after a shed, so that may be it, but I am still curious if corns swell with ovulation.

It seems to be an individual thing if mine are anything to go by.

I have one who looks like she's swallowed a load of golf balls when she ovulates. It's so pronounced that you can actually see the individual swellings along her sides.

With some I can see a distinct general swelling but the bumps are only evident if I let them move through my fingers. And then, the bumps can either be felt through the belly or the sides depending on the individual.

I have a couple where, not only do they not show any physical signs of ovulation, it's even difficult to see when they're carrying a full clutch of eggs.

So I suppose it really depends on the individual Corn. However, I also once had a Corn (although a male) that hung onto poop like a champion before shedding and really bulked out at his rear end during that phase. You could always tell when he'd shed overnight because all the windows had to be opened where he'd finally let go!

Well, like bitsy said,I think it depends on the individual snake. Zoe my female corn whom was accidently bred to my now known male Silver Queen ghost corn didn't even look any different at all. Even through the time when she was with eggs I could only slightly tell she had any in her. She did feel heavier in weight but visually it was hard to tell. She laid 11 eggs for me although only three of them look any good at this point.

Wanted to update that I soaked Lotem earlier and she pooped A LOT. She hasn't shed, so she might produce some more, but she seems a little bigger down her body than usual, so we'll see after she sheds. :p
