Do tou belive in U.F.O'S.

I was in the garden about 10 mins ago looking at the stars, when what i thought was a star, suddenly grew very bright and then dimmed away. I dont live far awayfrom Heathrow airport, and am certain it was not a plane, or helicopter. just wondering what everyone elses veiws on this topic are. Have yo ha any experiences that you cant explain.

Sounds more like a meteor.

But yes, I believe that there are plenty of flying objects that are unidentified.

If you mean aliens from another solar system, well... I think it is entirely possible that there are other planets that harbor life, and that it therefore is possible that intelligent life as well exists. I'm not entirely convinced that any of them have actually visited us; Prime Directive (for all you Trekkies) or not, I'd think that there would be plenty of evidence.

Besides, I also have a hard time believing that hundreds, perhaps thousands of people, from multiple governments can keep a secret that well.

Not a meteor, the object was stationary. Thanks, for the reply. Hey im not a trekkie, in a cult, or religious. Just thought it was really strange.

Could've still been a meteor. It definitely sounds like it was something that burned up in the atmosphere.

My stance on alien life is ambivalence. I'll worry about it when aliens drop on our doorstep and it actually becomes a life changing event. Until then, I'm not sure I care if there are aliens or not. :p

I believe there are "people" on other earth-like planets.. and I do believe that there are UFOs, but it could be the government just toying with us.
I'm still waiting for an experience, though.

If it was on a trajectory more or less at your, it'd have very little appearance of movement. If that's what it was, it's a good thing it got bright (exploded)!

Either way, it's cool to see things that are out of the ordinary now and then.

I have no idea, if there are or were UFO's. As the Mayan calender has some big change happenng to the world in 2012, maybe we'll see UFO's. Maybe they're coming back, if we look at the pyramids, the Mayan and Aztec temples and then follow with a primative culture building them (I don't thinnk they were primative cultures.)
When I lived in the desert near the big aircraft companies, I saw things that would make one wonder. The biggest joke was the Stealth bomber, that didn't exist, but we would see it flying at night. There were other things, which were always explained as weather balloons. They would say if one is facing north and the ballon is going north/south it would appear to stand still, but I've never seen or heard of a weather balloon making right turns. Do I think they were aliens, no, I'm more in the thinking it was our government or another government spying. :shrugs: susang

Thanks Susang,

UFO's can be anything.

I believe in E.T. life. There's billions of stars like ours with billions of planets surrounding them.

Yeah, I used to have a lot of experiences that I couldn't, at the time, explain.

They usually were explained away with the following morning's hangover, though. :)

jazz

I strongly follow and agree with the Mayan calendar (My made up "religion" is made up of Mayan, Aztec and Egyptian culture and beliefs) but I doubt it has to do anything with UFOs, it is said that "we have 13 years (From 1999) to realize the changes in our conscious attitude to stray from the path of self-destruction and instead move onto a path that opens our consciousness to integrate us with all that exists." Clearly has nothing to do with aliens, they might come sooner. lol

Just sayin'...

I most certainly believe in aliens. I don't believe they are necessarily green and slimy and evil, but sure! I mean, can this li'l planet of ours really be the only one with life? Perhaps there are even different laws of physics on other planets? Colors which humans have never seen? even... new kinds of food? neither grain, meat, dairy, veggie, or fruit? Maybe if we didn't always try to make a big deal out of it, they'd tell us about their ways...

I totally believe in the UFO phenomenon as a result of there being some sort of alien presence. There is just too much irrefutable evidence and testimony from highly creditable witnesses that one cannot deny.

One might argue that there is no tangible evidence to base anything but I would argue that the vast amounts of tangible evidence has been appropriated by the military as has been testified by those that have experienced any tangible items. Then of course there are hundreds if not thousands of pictures that cannot be discounted as forgeries or hoaxes including video as well.

In fact, there's quite a bit of video from the space shuttle missions that were being sent to NASA via unencrypted satellite transmissions that have been recorded by a Canadian, Martyn Stubbs, and have been released on dvd entitled " The Secret NASA Transmissions". This is without a doubt the most compelling argument for the existence of UFO's. The video compilation shows actual space shuttle footage that shows all sorts of UFO occurrences from many different shuttle missions. One of my favorite clips is when the shuttle just had their camera aimed off of the earths horizon and you see right off the edge of the screen this object moving very fast in the distance and then change it's trajectory at a hard 45 degree angle in the blink of an eye. There is nothing in our current understanding of nature and space that can do that. Then of course there is the failed space tether experiment that was conducted by one of the shuttle missions where the tether snapped and drifted off into space where it was then surrounded by all sorts of flying objects. Some have argued that the "debris" was a glare type of effect on the lense of the camera, but when you see many of these objects, some of them huge, fly behind the space tether that was many miles away from the shuttle after it snapped, you tend to discount the arguments on lense glare or debris.

There are many good videos out there as well as a ton of bad ones. But if you go on amazon and read the reviews, you'll be directed to the more profound and believable ones.

My wife and I have also witnessed something that we cannot explain. One summer afternoon in Southern California, we were standing in the driveway talking to my wifes mother. It was a beautiful clear blue sky for as long as the eye could see except this one single small low lying cloud that was maybe only a mile in the distance. The cloud was by my mother-in-law so that it was always visible while we were talking to her. Then, just like that, something shot out of the cloud and went straight up out of our atmosphere without making any noise at all. Like I said, it was perfectly clear out with no other clouds, so we would have seen any objects that would have been flying around. And plus, this thing just shot straight up and disappeared within 2 seconds. My wife is a flight attendant at the Portland, Oregon airport where there is an Air Force Reserve fighter squadron of F-16's and F-18's and we're used to seeing them flying around and one time I actually did see one pull up quickly and shoot straight up into the sky, but it was a very loud experience due to the thrusters on that plane. What we saw in So. Cal was completely silent. When my wife and I saw that "UFO" shoot off, we just looked at each other in disbelief. It was weird.

Everybody should read Cosmos by Carl Sagan.
While I am a huge Carl Sagan fan and grew up watching Cosmos on PBS in the early 80's, I have a problem with his skeptical view on the UFO phenomenon. Don't get me wrong, he's one of my heroes and I think he was an extremely intelligent person who worked on many of NASA's space missions, but in my opinion, while he was alive, he was not able to discount any of the credible UFO accounts. His skepticism was pure conjecture. He always claimed that he strongly believed that alien life existed but he totally refused to believe that aliens were visiting our planet. He even wrote the fictional book "Contact" about alien contact which was later made into a movie of the same name that starred Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey. It was a very interesting movie which often crossed the bridge of science versus religion. While Cosmos will definitely provide you with a lot of historical education and theoretical ideas, it is also a bit outdated and needs to be updated. I think Contact provides a little more insight into Carl Sagan's view of UFO's and alien existence.

There are also some good documentary TV shows such as The UFO Files which are frequently aired on The History channel and Unsolved Mysteries (which also sells a dedicated UFO dvd box set) had many good segments on the phenomenon.

"The truth is out there" :)

As long as we're sharing experiences....

Twenty some odd years ago, I was attempting to drive non-stop from upstate New York home to Louisiana. I was into TN on I-81 and I clearly remember noting the odometer, then I nodded off. What felt like an instant later, I felt suddenly very cold and opened my eyes and saw my lap. Looked up, and there was a car full of people in the lane next to me looking at me. Odometer was 20 miles different. Right there was an exit for a rest stop, so I took it. Went to the "you are here" map and I was on a different interstate! I had gone through an interchange and cruised down the road completely unaware of what I was doing. I chalked it up to a guardian angel who was really on their game that day. Took a 4 hour nap in the parking lot and made it the rest of the day home.

Years later I told this story to a friend who just completed her PhD at Temple and she said one of her professors had been studying extra-terrestrial occurences for years and that my experience was a 'classic abduction.'

I still think I have an all-star guardian angel... I've come ridiculously close to killing myself too many times without a scratch (relatively speaking) to be that lucky.

If they exist, I must have one also.

I have had more than my share of close calls.

I believe that anything is possible and our reality here is only a small miniscule fraction of what reality lies beyond what we can see, touch, smell and hear. I have seen so many crazy things in the sky. I have seen stars also get bright and disappear like you saw. And I have seen things way more weird that Most people I am sure would try to explain away. I bet you will look at the stars more often lol.. The universe is amazing I think :D

Well on the topic of if I ever had something strange I witnessed..yes I have..

One night while I was driving home and it was raining..I was on the parkway when I glanced over to my left..in the distance I suddenly saw a very large very bright light..almost like an explosion had just gone off...it wasn't a fire light though..the light was blue so it wasn't a building on fire..there was no lightning going on or thunder and to this day I have no idea what that was..When I first saw it I thought it was a nuclear explosion and I was just waiting for the after shock..but nothing ever happened..there was never even a noise..It definitely was the strangest thing that I have ever witnessed..:shrugs:
