Doesn't Constrict Long Enough To Kill Mouse

My son's 4 month old corn eats well but the last two feeds I noticed that she doesn't constrict long enough to actually kill the fuzzie. It's almost like she's so anxious to eat it, she constricts for some small period of time then decides to eat eventhough the mouse will still be kicking. She eats once a week. Anyone seen this before? Wondering if she'll grow out of it.
 
Dont worry, many babys dont even try to constrict. Constriction is instinct, but so is the need to reserve as much energy as they can for when they need it. If the meal isnt struggling, running away, or going to harm them, there's no point in killing it before eating. What you can try, when she is constricting take the fuzzy and wiggle it slightly. It will trigger her constriction instinct, and she will wrap around it tighter.
 
I suggest getting your sons snake onto frozen/thawed food's which prevents the risks of potential injury when feeding large live prey items.

Well put. My older snake use to eat live pinks and fuzzies b/c that's what the breeder fed her and never really constricted them. As Dae said they constrict by movement. I eventually was haunted by the fuzzies squeaking like a pig while being eaten alive so I switched to f/t, which fort. she ate fine. I'm half expecting to watch TV one day and have one of the fuzzies come through the TV "The Ring" style. Smiley face.
