Cool pose, just needs a forked tongue. That maybe to difficult with clay though?
Thanks!. I tried making one with an open mouth, but it got the old smusharoo after the tongue kept falling. That's the difficult thing with sculpey is that in order to make it detailed it has to be softened, but once softened it becomes very hard to stabilized. A back tongue would have been great, though, and I'll definitely give it another try!.
Nice! I love her expression! I need to get out my polymer clay and have a stab at making some reptiles...
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. BTW, we used Super Sculpey. It takes a few coats for the paint to take, but is a great material for sculpting and is shatter resistant (doesn't mean unbreakable, but it is forgiving). I absolutely encourage you to do it; It's a blast!. Also, if you use Super Sculpey make sure to bake under 250 degrees, otherwise it will burn and bubble, but overall a simple material. Give it a try, though, I know you'll enjoy it!!.
Nice. I would think about shrinking your heads a bit though..as they are they are more cartoony than I think you are going for. I like how you painted the eyes.
I don't mind having slightly large heads. It makes them have more appeal, and I haven't seen any that capture the true reality of a snake, so my aim is just to take the most interesting features and build on that. Thanks, though, and I get what your saying. Once I'm not so scarce on clay I'll add more volume to the body.
On a side note; one cool thing that happened tonight was that my grandfather said he'd hook me up with the creator of a herpetoligical magazine he knows very well. I forget his name, but he obsesses over my grandfathers work, and my grandfather say's he would be very interested in my work. Possibly up to 100$ a piece. Sounds like a lot, but if he's willing to then hey, why not see!. Not sure if that will come to fruition, but that definitely is exciting. For now I'm just giving them as gifts to the fam and build up my arsenal!.
