Dumb thermostat.

sacrifice.theory

is officially addicted.
My mom got me a ReptiTemp 500r for Christmas, and I'm having such a hard time with the temps.
Does anybody else have this problem?
If so, how do I fix it?

An Accurite digital thermometer/hygrometer with a probe.
-scratches chin-
Before I used a rheostat that I built myself.

Ok, that's good then.

I have the same unit and every fine with it.
My probe is hot glued in place so I get the same readings.
Whats your heat source a "UTH"??

It sure is. A ZooMed one, to be exact.
The funny thing is, the rheostat I built that cost me about 10-12 bucks had better stabilized temps than this does.
Maybe it's just me? I don't know.
You said you had the same one, right?
How do you go about setting it? Same as the directions?

Yeah, I build two rheostat too and only had to adjust them every few day but anyway I don't remember the direction but I just move the "dial" a bit when it needs it.
I think...... it did take a few days or so to settle in. Maybe my adjustments were to radical.:shrugs:

-shrugs-
30 dollars for something that doesn't work the way it's suppose to.
This morning when I left for school the temp was 86. It was 86 all morning until I left.
Well, I get home and the temp is 70 DEGREES!
I freaked out!
I wonder if Reptile Supply will accept a return because it doesn't do the job I hoped it would?

Yeah it might be a devo.

but just make sure it not on your setup first.

Sorry I couldn't help.

No reason to be sorry!
You helped me realize my mom bought a piece of.. amazing technological advancement!!
-chuckles-
Hopefully they'll take it back.
If not.. I dunno.
Maybe I can make it work somehow.

I just saying mine works and other here have used them, they are Ok but they are on the low end of the scale of...amazing technological advancement.

Yeah, hopefully mine will start to straighten out in a few days.
I sent Reptile Supply an email asking about returns.

Whoa, that's a huge variation in temperature. If you're thinking about switching to something else, I've heard good things about this: http://www.bigappleherp.com/BAH-1000-Thermostat

I have heard good things about this one, too.
Maybe if I get the money back on the other one, I'll look into it.
And, that is a huge difference. It honestly scared the holy urates out of me.
