Easy to handle geckos/lizards

Ditto with the chameleons not being handled, if you need to move them for whatever reason, try to not grab them, move a branch they're on etc. But they are absolutely fascinating to watch! Just remember they don't really like you lol.

Ramanth I'm envious of those Cresties! Gorgeous!

Actually this is wrong information on them. They are not a hand holdy pet either, I would rather hold my leopards or Cresties all the time. The skin on the Day geckos is delicate and can rip if held wrong. You should never hold a Day gecko unless its necessary.

oh right well i'll take your word for it, just weird that i could be given wrong information by so many people. Ive seen loads of day geckos in the flesh and they arent flighty when adult, more steady. Ive seen many being held and never seen any torn skin, marks, or damage of any kind being caused because of handling. This is only what ive experienced though.
Surely though its abit of a mute point though to say

You can damage any animal if you handle it wrong.

Handling Day Geckos is to be avoided unless absolutely necessary. Their scales are so fragile it can take only a slight rub to lift the skin clear away, resulting in an hideous looking wound. Although this will heal (if not too severe) careful monitoring will need to take place under sterilized conditions. The wound must remain clean at all times. The wound will result in a scar which, although healed as far as the gecko is concerned, will never match the original colouring and will be a constant reminder to avoid skin loss in the future. There will be occasions when handling is unavoidable - during major viv cleaning or replanting etc. Day geckos are fast & can escape all too easily if given the chance. The ability to climb up walls will make recapture a major undertaking. So be prepared. Invest in a small fishing net - the kind you would transfer fish from aquariums with. Coax the gecko into the net and carefully place your hand around the back & head of the gecko and grip gently. Transfer into a small holding viv whilst cleaning & renovation takes place.

Woah. I didn't realize they got that big. Thank you for posting that.
No problem. :)

Typically Cresteds get to be about 40 grams and 6 inches long. Raptor is above average at 68 grams and 9 inches long. Nimrod is 41 grams. Baby is still growing. She was only a couple grams in that photo but is about 17g now. :)

Thanks aameenah. They are the first herps I ever had and I don't regret the decision.
