Efficient UTH recommendations? (cutting that power bill :)

So I'm moving in with my bf in a few months and we are combining our snake collection! During this we were discussing ways to save on power and thought that our snake heat pads could def be something we could work on making more efficient!

So i was wondering what recommendations do you all have?
Currently im only running about 500kWh per month (which is lower than average) but id love to be able to cut that even more, seeing as BGE is gouging energy prices for baltimore inner city.

Ideas? thoughts? recommendations? Upgrades?
Currently we both have just been using handmedown zoomed brand (but i get the feeling i could find something more efficient :)

Thanks all!

I wonder how much more efficient it would be to put them in a rack and run a proportional thermostat rather than an on/off thermostat. It seems a lot less wasteful- just how it works. Plus, the rack would be better at retaining heat than a glass viv.

yep! i have a large rack and line up my current heaters so they share a good bit of the work on one half of all the cages. But yeah no glass! and the heaters i use i insulate as well, to try to cut the work even more :)
