egg yolk+pinkys for non-feeders? anyone know?

I have heard of a method, that i don´t know.
It is to put fresh egg yolk on a pinky, and than the snake should eat this singly.
Someone told me, a friend of him used that by his boas, and he says, it works.

So, i have no non-feeders here to try it out and all breeders that i asked for in germany never heard of this egg yolk-method.

Anyone here? Work this also at corns?

I have not heard of doing this. I've heard of scenting with chicken broth, tuna juice, lizard spit, and other things, but not egg yolk. If you do try it, let us know how it goes.

When I forcefeed my snake, I puree pinkies with whole egg, and tube feed them. So the egg itself wouldn't harm them, but I've never tried coating the pink in egg.

I do have a non-feeder who I will try this on though ( just coating the pink in egg yolk) and see if it works. It won't be for a week or so, as the snake just went into shed. Will post here if I have any success.

I can try this not until next year, when i have hatchlings - when non-feeders are there. But when, i will try this and bring a report to you.

@christina
It would be interesting, thx.

I have some reluctant feeders here still. I will also give this method a try and let you know how it goes.

Here are our results.

We tried this method with all 6 of our problem feeders and this morning, there are still 6 pinks.

We didn't have any luck with this method. Although it might work, it didn't for us.

I've heard of coating with egg to help with force feeding but not for actually scenting. I would think that down from a bird would work better than egg yolk.

Yea, i know the other method for forcefeeding, but this mean it for singly eat.

This guy, that told me that, tried this out at his non-feeding python regius - and he said, it worked, the python eat it with the egg-yolk.

Perhaps it only work with boas and pythons? :shrugs:
We should wait for the other results.

I tried it with 10 reluctant feeders and so far none of them have been interested. I'll leave the pinks in with them overnight and post results tomorrow.
