Snow corn - 3 1/2 ft female
Known to have been bred to an Amel male - more than once - he's got alot of energy that one.
Hasnt eaten for almost a month now. Doesnt seem to be losing weight
Put her in the bath in shallow lukewarm water a couple of times and she seemed a bit constipated which has since cleared out - still wont eat, every time I try she shies away from it, wont even look at it when I leave her alone.
Shed about 7 days ago - took a little helping - seems perfectly fine but massively more active since.
What makes me suspect shes got eggs are there are this little raised round dimples along her sides when she moves in certain ways - they are all on the same plane of the body - midway along the flank of her - towards the back of the body. They almost look like little rivets that have had skin laid over the top of them...
Have made a nice damp spot for her in a 'ground level' hide with dampened tissue paper which should be fine for a lay box. Of course she doesnt seem to like it... but thats par for the course.
Temperatures are good - but I am wondering if there is any other way of telling if shes gravid or not - she doesnt seem to be fat really - and I have tried having her run over my fingers as someone suggested and I do feel bulb shaped things - but not well enough to be sure they are eggs not muscle...
Is it common for adult snakes kept in the same building, but in different rooms & enclosures to go into shed at the same time? because I started seeing signs of shedding on my male snake at the same time the female shed and I wondered if there was some sort of trigger for it...?
Incidentally for those in the UK with access to 4OD - there was a pretty good show on burmese pythons - sadly it was about them by performing an autopsy, but it was interesting nonetheless, and worth a watch.
Having seen the size of both those and the retics, I am going to firmly stick to something nice and small thanks!
