Would isolating the color/pattern genes of Corns ruin the hobby?

I googled for a while but couldn't find anything on genomic information and the corn snake. I was hoping that with all the fancy innovations we have in this country that there would be some research or even "home kit" to run some gels.

If in the next 5-10 years someone did map out the Elaphe guttata genome then we would probably be able to know EXACTLY what we were getting/breeding...

I should make this a poll.... hmmm

If anyone has any links or info please let me know
