Hi, I've spoke to a couple of you already in the breeding forum, but i thought I'd introduce my pets since they're the reason i'm on here! My little boy is called stewie.. He's a lovely Amel, He's around 2' 4" and loves exploring! sorry about the poor image quality my camera is rubbish!

This is my big girl. She's called Lois. She's a classic and is the mother of 13 eggs! (Day 49 today!!)

Stewie was a birthday present from my girlfriend because unfortunately i had a hatchling Amel before him, (Freddo), which refused to eat and after 3 months of visits to the vets and syringe feeding, he sadly passed away :cry:.

Lois was adopted from my local council rescue center. She laid her eggs and i decided to incubate them just incase she'd been fertilised.. Turns out she had!

Anyway thats about all there is to know about my snakes! I hope to speak to you all soon and I love seeing all of your pictures! i promise i'll get a better camera soon haha!

Aw, so glad you rescued her! What a happy bonus to find she was bred, or unhappy if you think of how irresponsible either the rescue or the old owner was to have bred her (on purpose or not) then get rid of her. Though had she laid eggs at the rescue they would have probably frozen them and tossed them. So you saved more than one life when you brought her home for sure! Cheers to you! And cheers to her for having a good home now!
 
Yeah i was happy when i found out she'd been bred! I assume she was bred at the rescue place as she was sharing a viv with 2 other corns when i went to pick her up and he said she'd been there for a year. I'm just glad i didn't sell my incubator! I just hope they all survive. I've read so many things about hatchlings dying at full term or being deformed i can't help but expect the worst. I've never done this before so i'm terrified! i find it so amazing when i candle the eggs and see the snakes move inside!
 
im sure you can certainly become quite overwhelmed with emotion knowing that you just have two snakes now and might have 15 soon if all goes well. Will be keeping thumbs for you! And you are definitly in the right place for any answers you may need!
 
Its really overwhelming thinking about that cornstar! i don't think i'll be able to keep them all really, its a bit much to take on! i could open a shop the way things are going because my girl is ready to lay her second clutch!! Lets hope these are fertile too!
 
Lol oh thats great, i would love to breed one clutch one day but i dont know if i could handle that sort of pressure just yet hehe yeah i think 15 is abit much, but maybe keeping one or two of the offspring would be ok :)
 
Do you remember the morphs of the other two snakes she was with and remind me, what morph is the mom of the eggs? Might be able to help you figure out what to expect ;)
 
I remember there was an amel in the viv with her, but i didn't see the other one as it was hiding.. and as for her morph i really couldn't tell you! I haven't done genetics 101 yet lol.. all i know is shes a normal.. normal pattern as pictured above, black belly checkers.. thats all i know! sorry! If the Amel was male would i get Amel babies? or do normal and Amel make something else?
 
Normal to amel would get normals het amel, now if that normal girl happens to be het amel you will get some amels but also normals het amel. Now if the other is the father. . .we won't have any idea until they hatch and if they are all normal would only know if you bred the babies to each other to test.
 
Blast from the past! Just thought I'd let you all know I kept 12 of the 13 hatchlings! (1 born heavily deformed and had to be put down) 5 are anery and 7 are classic like their mother! They're awesome but need to find homes soon as I can't house 16 adult snakes!
 
Hey congrats on the eggs hatching. Well you now know that the mom is het for anery, and from the stats, I'd say the the dad was an anery since you got an almost 50/50 split. I'd say it would be pretty safe to say that the normals are 100% het anery, like their mom (or is it mum there in the UK?).
