Hello everyone, New member here:D I'm soon to get my first corn and was wondering would starting off with a 20 or 10 gal be too big for a hatchling?

Thanks for the help:)

hello

welcome to the forum. ::IMHO:: if you are getting a hatchling i would definetly go with a ten gallon. or even a shoebox sized rubbermaid container with a tight fitting lid and a bunch of small holes in the sides.:IMHO:

Hi and welcome!

The little ones do like smaller spaces, but if you get a 20 gal. you can block some of it off for a while, or put some good smaller hides in it. I put my 2 mo. old in a 10 gallon, but my first snake went right into a 20 gal. though she was not as young, maybe 6 mos. She did just fine and seemed content and calm, and she's grown rapidly so it's nice for her now. I do have two hides in each tank for them.

Just remember to secure that lid well! I speak from experience as I've had one escapee. Hope this helps! :)

I would agree with Ginnyo, I started with a plastic reptile container with a snap lid, and put her in a 55 gal aqarium when she was 2months old. It has two hides, a nice water bowl, a large flat rock, a large driftwood branch, underheat pad, and newspaper as a substrate. She loves it and its easy to clean. She is 4 months old now and at her size, over 20", this aquarium looks just right and she has room to play.

First off Welcome to one of the most helpful forums. I found that people are very helpful here with quick response. Any way I started out with a ten gallon for my hatchling he has two hides one on each side and a few tree branches since he loves to climb.
