Would it be safe for me to put garden rocks, not sharp ones, soft rounded ones, in the tank if I sterilize them first?

and if I can, how would I sterilize them?

You must be reading the same book I am- "The Art Of Keeping Snakes."

Boil them? Bake at 200F? Bleach solution?

My mom works at a local bar so I use the same stuff they do to sterilize the glasses. Works good for anything. Fill the tank with water, drop the tank deco in and let it sit a few moments. I figure if its ok for us to use then it should be ok for snakes. Have yet to have a problem with it. I just dont remember what the stuff is called.

When boiling a rock (or putting it in the microwave) be careful. Rocks can have air pockets in them. Personally, I'd feel more comfortable with bleach solution, but it's up to you. Just cover the top of the pan!

If it was me I would leave it in for a few hours, just to make sure.

I've baked rocks before and have never had them explode, I think that only happens if you cool them too quickly. Really hot rock + cold water = bad things ;)
