Escaped Corn Snake Found!

Well, finally, after five stressful days, much searching, a few traps, and much sadness, my baby corn snake was found.

How you ask? I will get there, but hang on a sec

I now upgraded his cage to a whole new 10 gallon with a sliding/locking lid. In addition, it has a place to put a padlock to make sure the top cant slide off. I am going to be METICULOUS when it comes to making sure to close the cage, because i know what its like, and its not fun.

SO, anyway

I was at school today. Today was the fifth day he had been out. My mom, whom i love ever so dearly, and who is the most thoughtful, beautiful, and caring woman in the world, went to buy me a new corn snake, as she felt very bad for me. So she got a new snake, and brought it home. Just as she was getting the new snake set up, she looked to the side of my dresser and there was my baby, all curled up! Needless to say, he is now safe and warm in his new cage. As for the other snake, when my mom bought him (from a family owned/run pet store with which we are very familiar with) she told him what the situation was. The owner said once my mom got the snake he knew the other one would turn up. And sure enough, he did. I begged my mom to keep the second, as a second corn would be great, but she decided for now i better focus on my baby, which i now agree with her on.

Needless to say, your help and suggestions were invaluable, and your support was excellent. I look forward to becoming an active member of these forums and helping others as you have all helped me so much.

A quick question. It has been around 8 days since he has eaten. I do, however, want to give him some time to settle back into his cage.

How long should i wait before feeding him? He is doing fine with me handling him, and i am going to give him a bath soon.
 
Locking lids are invaluable. Escapes, I do not believe are inevitable. It just takes a while to get in the habit of being super diligent. :D

Congrats on finding the little one.

Why on earth would you give your snake a bath?

I say feed him & put him back in his home & leave him alone for a couple of days. It's easier to destress on a full tummy :D
 
im really glad you found your baby, i too lost my snake a few months ago but luckily found her the same day, i know how hard it is to lose a snake friend especially your first snake...well good luck with him :)

Glad to hear you got him back!

I'd give him a few days at viv temp before feeding or handling. If he doesn't have mites, or an intestinal blockage, you really shouldn't ever have to give him a bath. If you are bathing him to facilitate shedding, control his tank humidity and/or provide a moist hide instead. Good luck!

With his new tank, i have been able to raise the cool end up to 80. He seems to like it a bit warmer now.

By the way, what is a good humidity to have normally? During shedding?

When will i know when to feed him more pinkies or a bigger mouse?
