essential oil burners

ok ive read in a few places that snakes possibly cannot be near incense so i was deciding to get rid of my incense all together. but i really want to keep my oil burners with essential oils. I rarely use them but I don't want to stop using them altogether.. id be using them in the same room as my snakes, as I live in my apartment living room...do you think its safer to use oil burners than incense? im thinking so because insense is really smoky and strong and my oil burners barely smell and most of them are natural

what do you guys think?

I don't know how sensitive snakes are to essential oils, but I know that macaws are. Since I have a lot of macaws, I have given up on a lot of things--incense, candles, Pine-Sol, etc.

With my guys, I figure better safe than sorry, and I don't have essential oils anywhere near the snake room, either.

hmm it seems that birds are really sensitive though, i mean more so than snakes. they are somewhat related though so im not so sure.

the frequency ive been using the oil is almost a couple times every 6 months. and its on for 10 mins i guess.

i suppose its better than smoking inside the house all day, which im sure there are some people who do that, which im sure their snakes dont live very long,!

i remember hearing that some birds can die if you use tefflon pans.

thanks for your reply!

Oh wow, I had no idea that oils could be potentially harmful to snakes. I just bought a Better Home and Garden's Brand oil burner and have been running it non stop. I also live in an apartment and the burner is relatively close to my snake's viv.

I guess I'll turn it off for now, although I really love the smell :( I was really excited to find it because it was a scent that I thought had been long discontinued. Dang it.

Yes. It happened to some acquaintances of mine. If the pans overheat and burn, the non-stick coating releases deadly fumes. That's why we only use cast iron, here. Again, better safe than sorry :).
