established snake not eating

Hello,

I recently acquired a corn snake from my science teacher, who said that he had been feeding regularly; however, he isn't eating. I got him the day I got back from spring break; my teacher had left him at school over the break (it was only a week), and said that it was about time for him to feed, but that I should wait a couple days so that he could get used to his new environment. So I waited for approximately 4 days, and on the day after, I offered him a f/t fuzzy, which he took but immediately dropped. Then I waited till the day after the next day to offer another fuzzy, but he barely glanced at it! He's not a baby, and my teacher said that he was already established in terms of feeding. What could be wrong?

How are you temperatures in the viv? How are you controlling the temperatur? Was the fuzzy warm when you gave it to the snake or cool to the touch? Did you handle the snake before feeding? Did your science teacher feed in-viv or did he feed in a separate container?

It's best to give the snake a week or so of no handling to let it adjust to it's new environment. Change is stressful for a snake. Additionally, don't offer food back-to-back. Give the snake a week before offering food again.

The temperatures are approx. 85 degrees on the hot side, and room temp on the cool side. The fuzzy was decently warm. I did not handle the snake before feeding, except to put it in a feeding container. My teacher fed in a separate container.

I think I'll take your advice and just leave him be for a week. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
