euthanization chamber

this is a home made euthanization chamber i threw together. it cost me around $20 to make. The trigger looking device is a tool used to blast out pipes. It uses a c02 cartridge just like the ones you use in an air gun. other than that it's nothing more than a large pickle jar, plastic tubing, fittings, and a valve.

works like a charm. throw the mice in, give the trigger a a couple pulls, wait about a minute and you're ready to feed. great way to get a fresh kill without having to break their necks or manually stun them.

Thats an awesome little setup you got there good job!... Think you can post a step by step instruction with parts list for those of us that aren't creative lol.

I agree, I would like to make one. That way I can start my own mouse colony.... well in a few months.

Whoa, Danger Will Robinson. If you are putting compressed carbon dioxide into a pickle jar you have just built an improvised explosive device. IED.

note the valve in the lid. the valve allows the oxygen to leak from the jar while the c02 replaces it. it doesn't compress air into the jar.

Hey Jay, do you have a list of all the hoses and the valves and what is needed? that looks awesome. Where did you get the CO2 dispenser from?

the co2 dispenser is a drain line cleaner. it can be bought at your local hardware store or pluming supply shop. the fittings and hose/line came with it. other than that, it's really nothing but a pickle jar, some rubber hose that can be found pretty much anywhere, and the valve which you should be able to find at any hardware store. i just used some 2 part epoxy to seal the holes in the lid. the most expensive part was the co2 dispenser which was around $20 the rest of the supplies i just had laying around the house but i'm sure they'd cost you no more than a few bucks in a retail store.

I built something like this out of an old airbrush a few months ago. uses the same compressed Co2 cartridges i used a Tupperware though.. wish I would have though of the pickle jar I bet its easier to clean :)

Looks great!

I hate to revive a dead thread, but I don't wanna make a new one. I really like the idea but have searched and can't figure out where the heck to get the drain line cleaner.

That's a neat little setup. Would have come in handy quite a few times. Adding the drain line cleaner to my list of things to look for next time I'm in Lowes.

I couldn't find the drain line cleaner, but if you have any homebrew stores around, see if they have co2 chargers for keys, that's what I got and it works great
