Exo Terra

Nice cage, esp. the back rock section they give you, but I don't care for that black bar seam thing in the front, my eyes go right to that; too distracting for my tastes - I wish they would offer a different design that eliminated that.

Have you seen these cages? See link below, very very nice, but disadvantage is no side viewing; otherwise, I love 'em.

I know a 40 breeder is like 100.00 but my problem is I am short and it is hard for me to reach in to some of the cages I am only 5 foot 3 inc tall. So I want to know if they will hold up over the years?

I've got a smaller version of it that i've been using for almost 5 years. I like them, but it's difficult to keep any sort of humidity in and if you forget to lock the doors when you're done, it doesn't take much for a snake to push out and escape.

Also, it's easy for a snake to get behind the background or on top of the background and give you a scare as you spend hours digging around searching for it! :D

Exo terra is usually good quality. But i agree very expensive. Im using the same measurements for my 20 gallon Viv and it only cost me C$60, no front opening, just a sliding mesh top(with click lock), but i always found those front ones gimicy.
You shouldnt use the sand in the kit because it isn't good for corns, but everything else is good.
If you buy everything separately you could probably save yourself $60-80
but if you're just starting out, sometimes its good to just get an all in one kit.
I dont recall them ever including the drift wood like that but i may be mistaken.
My advice, Dont buy it over the internet, with shipping this clearly costs to much, Any decent pet store should sell these. as well they come in different designs, for your personal taste. (personally I like Mayan)
:)

Exo Terra is BA but expensive, if i had the money i would love to get one, but i'm still happy with my 40 Gallon zilla for $69. Hard to beat that price for the Black Friday sale. But for the sale that's going on for these, it's crazy and if you are getting one, i would hurry before it goes off sale. Whatever you get, show us some pics when you get it done! :)

And just to let you know, it's on sale for in-store only

"*This product is not currently available online."
ahh didnt see that
anyway Ya Zilla works very well and is a cheaper alternative
I think thats what im using now

exo terras are very popular in europe, i got an 18"x18"x18" cube exoterra that i have my 2 babys in, i dont have the background, as you have to silicone it in to stop snake getting behind it, instead ive painted the back and sides of my viv with black paint (same as my aquarium) and it helps keep the heat and light in the viv and also looks quite cool.

I have the exo terra 40 gal and I love it . As far as the backing concerned , I modified it a bit . I hot glued styofoam on the bottom and it has kept my okeetee from getting behind it for the last 6 months .
And tonight I am looking at another one that comes with a stand that I found on kijiji .

thanks for the info. The one I look at in store I dont think it has the background. I dont like it anyways.

I have a small one that my garg is in. I don't like it. I would _never_ put a snake in one.

I actually have one and have had it for almost 1 year and I love it. I am also very short and have a hard time in the top sliding cages so this one is very easy access. And you can take the background out... it doesn't have to be in there. I did have to tape the areas where the little door slides for the temp and therm probes after I put them in because I was concerned about an escape. If they didn't take up so much room I would get one for my other 2 snakes as well. It is just a personal preference though I guess?

Nanci Why would not put a sanke in there. Please tell me? I want to get to get the best for my little man.

Here again is that Zilla 40 Critter Cage; just the other day, I ordered two of these for around $90 from a local pet supply store - it was close, these or those really nice Show Case Cages I mentioned earlier in this thread; but the lack of side viewing followed by cost is what made me finall choose the 40 Critter Cage. I too thought of getting a larger 125 or 150 tank and putting a divider in it to keep our two corns seperate, but both at the same eye level, but doing some measurements in our living room and TV room, would really limit where this size of tank could go; so went with 2 Zilla 40s and picked up a stand that keeps on on top of the other and allows for near full viewing on all sides. Once I get them and get our snakes into their new homes, I'll post some pics.

Good luck with your search...
