Extra feeding question

So, as usual, Seamus is an incredible eater- However, he INHALES his pinky- Like.... It's gone and halfway down his body in less than 2 minutes..

So, I'm wondering, from all you snake baby experts, is it okay, or advisable, to feed him two pinks?? He's 9 weeks old now, and as soon as he swallows his mouse, which is no lie like 30 seconds or less, he is cruising around looking for more.

I don't want to overfeed him or get him blocked up or anything, but I also don't want him to go hungry.

Just figured I'd throw it out there and see if it was advisable.
I do have larger pinks but I just don't know if he could swallow anything bigger, I just figured he might need more meat lol

Picture is his full belly, less than two minutes after snatching that mouse out of my chopsticks!

Good question. I would also like to know the answer to this, that is exactly what my normal corn looks like 2 minutes after a meal.

Hmmmm so maybe I'm taking too long in between feedings, according to that chart- He gets fed every Saturday, I thought once a week was appropriate.

I'll feed him again on Thursday and see if he becomes satisfied with feedings every 5 days instead of 7.

Most snakes are opportunistic eaters meaning they will eat at every opportunity possible since, especially in the wild, they never know when the next meal is coming along. In captivity we control their feeding schedule for health and growth. By the looks of his belly I would do what you said. Up his feeding schedule to a 5 day and see how that works for him. I have species that will easily eat every 2 days but corns are not one of them. They seem to stay best at 5 to 7 day schedule until they are adults where I move them to either a 10 or 14 day feeding depending on male or breeding female and the individual needs. Keep in mind that over feeding can cause a regurge and at 9 weeks old that's the last thing you want to deal with.
:)

Thank you!
Yes the last thing I wanted was regurge, so I didn't know the best way to approach it.
I'll put him on a 5 day feeding instead of 7, hopefully he won't look so hungry and pathetic all the time lol

So there are a ton of different guidelines and approaches to feeding. I always give people the general 7 day schedule because its convenient and easy. And the old school reccomendation is to feed prey that is 1.5 times the size of the largest part of their body . A lot of people now are leaning towards weight based feedings meaning you get a gram scale, weigh your snake and use a chart to feed based on weight. I still eyeball them and it has worked well for me. I've increased feedings to every 5 days before moving up the size or amount of prey. So before offering two pinks in one feeding you may want to increase your frequency of feeding one pink every 4-5 days for several feedings to ensure he tolerates it.

Also if you notice the food isn't leaving a visible lump right after feeding thats another key indicator it's time to increase the size. (For corns at least).

And be careful a lot of those charts are really aggressive feeding schedules to help grow snakes to breeding size quickly which isn't the best for longevity. Overfeeding and power feeding can significantly reduce the lifespan of the snake.

Fyi I fed one of the babies two pinkies the other day and he did great. He is the bigger of the two we kept. I'll probably move him up to fuzzies soon.

Do you know how much he weighs? Unless he's over 25 grams, I sure wouldn't move him to fuzzies. And even then, I'd go through larger pinks/peach fuzzies first.
