First attempted feed of my new R.O. didn't go over so well. He was nervous, I was nervous, he wasn't ready to eat. He struck a few times, but never actually latched on to the half pink I was trying to feed him, rattled a bit too. I left the pinky in the cup I was feeding him in with a lid on it and turned the lights out hoping it would calm him down, 10 min later, no luck. On the bright side when I put him the tank he roamed around a bit before nesting in the rim of the top of the tank and watching me from his perch as I fiddle around the room, least hes out of his hides, more than he has been since I got him.

Guess I'll try cutting off the other end and braining the pink next time, Tuesday sound about right, or should I wait longer, he probably hasn't eaten since last Sunday or Monday, (was shipped on a Weds. and I'm sure Kathy Love wouldn't ship a snake w/ food in its stomach)

your only feeding him half pinks? i fed mine a full pink today :p first feed and he took it like a champ :p

10 minutes isnt very long to wait... especially for a young new snake. I would try putting him in the dish with a hot pinkie (really warm to the touch) for an hour or so and then check on him. That usually works :) good luck

Thanks, guess you can read and read and still manage to come up w/ a few questions once you actually start putting the info into practice, I thought I had picked up somewhere that after a few min, if they hadn't eaten they were not likely too.

Usually as they get older they start to eat quicker but babies or ones who are new some where can take abit more time. I usually give all of mine about an hour to eat. If they are my bigger ones... then they get to wait til next feeding day but on babies? If they still havent eaten and are thin, I will rewarm the pinkie and leave them over night in their viv covered up with a hand towel. If they are just new and in good shape.... which I am sure your's is because of getting it from Kathy :) Then just keep trying every 4 days and pretty soon it will get the hang of it :) Also, If you are still having probs... I would e-mail Kathy and ask her how she fed them and try to replicate that :)

Went ahead and broke out another pink and left him alone in his cup for an hour in the dark, figuring that if he didn't down it I'd put it on a towel in his cage, was gone when I checked so we're good :). Appreciate the help.
