fancy rats

I you're not cold hearted. If you were, you wouldn't keep ANY pets alive. Some people keep cows for pets and would have a hard time killing off any calves or adults for beef, but a farmer who breeds them for the purpose of food probably won't have as hard a time. That's not to say they wouldn't feel sad or that they are bad people, but they may not be as close to their cows because they went itno it knowing they were just beef cows, not pets. Same thing with rats or any other feeder really that are also considered pets by people.

:crazy02:We have raised animals considered food cows, sheep, goats, pigs... My kids always had to name the ones they knew would be food 't-bone', 'lamb chop'... I think of something to call baby rats?????

Squeak Meat. Lol, anyway, I wouldn't mind naming the parents and killing the offspring, that's fine. It's the parents that count, not the babies.

lol "Mom are we having lamb chop today?" No we'll have him tomorrow.

I hate to be mean, but Debbie the rat lady looks a bit, well, for lack of a better word, disturbed.

She can be found under the merchandise section.

I see what you mean. The scarfs seem like a neat idea. Iam sure it's easy to make your own though. And the "What's For Dinner? magnet cracks me up too, being a snake owner and all.

Thanks. that was the first thing I tried (searching the net and going to rat sites). Most of them don't breed anymore, don't have anything, or they are waaaay to far way. I posted here because I was curious to see if there were smaller breeders that people new of (the ones that may not have a web site) or if anyone here bred them in those area. I have only found three places that still breed, but they won't know if they will have more litters for 3 months. Thanks though.

You can pretty much forget about getting rats through any of the "pet rat" breeders or similar sources. If you want to breed them, its a pet shop or a feeder breeder.

Best choice would be a local feeder breeder as pet shop rats tend to be less healthy.

Check a local reptile show, or herp club to find a feeder breeder.

The scarf is sorta cool, that is, if I was a rat person that it is...
