Fashion Show: Will It Go Over?

Hello everyone,

I have been contacted to sort of take part in a unique opportunity for my university. No, it's not a fashion show for snakes...

But, every year my university puts on a huge production; a fashion show in which all proceeds go to various charities in our community.

They are looking to do America's Next Top Model inspired beauty shots, in which the models are required to take photos with snakes. As an example - the same link I was given - please see below.
https://sites.google.com/site/antmworld/cycle-1/photo-shoot-3-beauty-shots-with-snakes

One of the women who organize and run the show contacted me, hoping to be able to use one of my snakes. She was very courteous about asking, and provided me with details and left room for questions, of course.

I will be allowed to attend, obviously, and work with my pet(s) and the models. There are 4 models in total (2 males, 2 females), and they would require 2-3 hours to take photos altogether.

I am mostly game for it, but have a few concerns, which I will bring up with the organizer. But for you guys, what are your thoughts??

On the one hand, I don't want people looking at these photos and thinking "Oh my goodness! That is terrifying! They are so brave!" because I don't know if that's the message I want people to be getting... but on the other, it would give snakes in this community some much needed publicity.

How do you think Sydney would handle it? She is much more a "neck snake" than Beau, and older. I have taken her out for several hours at a time, and feel she would not be as stressed as my ball python. I also think she would fair better with the travel to and from the university, as it is a 10 minute drive both ways (and it is a Canadian winter...)

So, any thoughts, worries, suggestions, or otherwise?

Thank you for reading :)

I think it would be awesome. I personally never really see it as a "Omg they are so brave!" Fear Factor type situation as more just a fabulous art situation. I actually follow a facebook page Cold Blooded Vixens which posts a whole lot of similar art/photo shoots.

There are a number of people locally who participate in similar events on a monthly basis, in Alberta so same weather conditions. It's actually a great way to show others that they aren't "slimy and gross"

Awesome, thanks! :)
I've been talking with the organizer to finalize details, and they are going to work around my schedule and make sure everything goes over smoothly, and that everything the snake needs is in order. I am told the models who are involved have been chosen BECAUSE they are comfortable with the idea of shooting with a snake, so that makes me more comfortable as well.
I will also be given copies of the final shots :) but won't be until March sometime. I will have to share them with you!

I love the idea! Anything that helps raise awareness of our passion is a good thing!

And YES, we want to see the pics!

Just an update, the shoot will take place March 3rd :) because they are personal pets, the organizers and committee don't feel legal documents need to be signed, unless I draft some up myself (but they won't be official then anyways).

TOMORROW is the big day!!
It is taking place at someone's home, as there wasn't enough time to book a room at the university once a date was finalized.

The shoot itself will start around 7:30, and I expect it will last around 3 hours.

I have asked the models not to wear any perfume, and to go easy on hairspray and any other scented items.

Does anyone have any last advice? :)
I will post photos as soon as I can! (I probably won't get the final shots until April though.)

I have asked the models not to wear any perfume, and to go easy on hairspray and any other scented items.

Oooh, good call.

Best of luck tomorrow, just don't let the new modeling career go to her head. Next thing you know she will have her own entourage, hitting the clubs, carrying around tiny dogs everywhere she goes and will forget she ever knew you.

Have fun and post pics!
