Hi, well I can't believe I've had Mr Ripley for three months now. I read the posts on here all the time but as things have been going well I've had no questions to ask until now. I've been amazed at his temperament he is great, but was wondering why sometimes when I get him out he is in a hurry to speed off.....and then other times he seems happy to be around me, he wraps his tail quite tight around my wrist and anchors himself there. Is it anything to do with temperatures outside his viv? It's been getting quite cold here.

I've amazed myself with the confidence I have gained with him, I've always adored snakes but was a little nervous about getting one and being able to handle and care for him 100%, but he is just amazing. He's a big boy at over 5ft. I just love him so much.....

It could be many things. What time of day is he sluggish? Corns usually sleep all day and are ready to go at night. I hate to wake my kiddos on feeding days, but I usually feed around 3am when everyone is awake.

He might also just be hungry and energetic.

And you have yourself a nice new bracelet! Corns love to coil, it is when they get to 1000g and you wear them around your neck while doing chores that it's really funny. They never constrict too tightly, but do it to hang on for the ride. I love it.

It's always evening/night time I get him out. Tonight he was off at speed then just snuggled up for a while. You made me laugh about getting a bracelet....it's so true, he just holds on and then off he goes, then I gather him up and he's holding on again....I love it.....not done chores with him yet !!!
Thanks for reply.

Another thing I was thinking about is what kind of soap do you use to wash your hands before you handle him? All of my kiddos are highly offended if I use a scented soap. I wash with Neutrogena, it has a neutral odor and the kids are better about not wanting to jump ship so quickly.

Thanks for advice ...yes suppose it is quite scented.... I stick to the same one each time, but will get some un-scented and see.
