When i get my snake I want everything to be perfect. (sorry to bug ya so much) so What the best heat pad? I've read about some bad ones that get to hot so whats the best?

I love ultratherms and T-rex's Cobra Heat mats. They're the non-stick on sealed flexwatt variety, and since they're not permanently stuck onto your tank, it's easy to swap tanks, or swap to a bigger heat mat. They also give off a warmish aura instead of a thick heavy heat like those stick on types have. And if it gets too hot you can just elevate the tank off the heat mat (though thermostat is a better option if you can afford one).

Not too sure if I understood that last question. The whole heatmat generates heat (the black strips are what gets hot, they're actually resistive sheets a material that dissipate heat when a current is put through it, just like a giant flat resistor).

I bought..

I bought the ZooMed brand for my snake. I haven't used it yet, and I haven't got my snake yet either, but it sounded convincing. If this is a bad brand, let me know so that I can return it before it goes to waste!

ZooMed and Cobra

I have a ZooMed and a T-Rex Cobra heat mat, and I would recommend the Cobra over the ZooMed for several reasons. First of all I prefer the non-stick ones like the Cobra. This way you don't have to worry about unsticking the heat mat everytime you clean your enclosure. If you do keep your ZooMed, you could stick the mat on a tile or something under the tank so your mat isn't stuck directly on your enclosure to solve this problem. Also, the ZooMed gets really really hot! I would reccomend a Rheostat or something to control the temperature of the mat. Or you could just adjust the space between the enclosure and the mat to keep temps down. I think that the Cobra would be a lot less of a fire hazard than the ZooMed too. All and all I would just go with the Cobra.

I started with the T Rex Cobra heat mats but then recently started using Big Apple Herp's Dragon's Lair heat mats. They are very similar but Big Apple claims theirs only get to 90 degrees whereas the Cobra ones claim to get to 100 degrees. From my experience they both get hotter than what they claim, but I've been elevating my cages up off of the heaters and have had no problems.

I've heard that the Zoo Med ones get super HOT!
