I chose disposition, ease of care, and aesthetics. I like to keep species that obvious are attractive in my eye, but I have a few "ugly ducklings" that I just can't part with. Disposition is a huge factor for my family and I. There are some species I would love to keep, but just don't trust their disposition. Not to mention that I don't always have oodles of time to work with them. Admittedly, any species can have a bad apple among them, most of which have managed to find a way into my house at one time or another lol. I enjoy taming babies immensely, but I'd like the effort to be reciprocating. Lastly, ease of care is an important factor as well. I don't know of anyone who wants to keep above their means. I refuse to "half-ass" it when it comes to my animals, but if I am constantly keeping up the terrarium or babying the snake, then the rest of my animals are bound to suffer a small degree of neglect... I'm just not okay with that. Every animal in my care gets the best care I can give (oh yes, they are spoiled) but I don't want to constantly be a slave to my snakes. I do get to have a life sometimes. Rarely, but every now and then I get some me time :)

In my collection, my favorites are probably my quirkiest snakes. Dojah, my big BCI has been with me for about 7 years... We're buds. It will be a very very sad day for me when he leaves this world. My 2nd favorite would be Aria, my female MBK. She took a lot of work to tame, and still has her frequent PMS days, but the bond that we've formed has helped ease the process. She does rank with Vega, my male Burm for much the same reason. We've spent quite a bit of time together as well. He came to me a very timid and defensive little guy, but I was determined to make him comfortable with me and his environment. He has become an absolute lover, and is very particular to me (which admittedly makes me proud). I have no doubt in my mind that he will grow into one of the best animals I've ever had.

This a tuff question Eric? I do not think I can pick just one. But I do have 3 that mean a lot.

#1 is Zipper my Calif. King I got from Katie. I saw a picture of Zipper on a pet web site showing pet pictures. Zipper was the most beautiful snake I have seen. I tracked her down to Katie but she was on hold for someone else. Well that person backed out and Katie PM me she was available. I was so excited. Zipper is just so cool and calm. No tail rattling or musking. Only moody at feeding time. Big appetite this girl has.

#2 Is my Ball Python Junior I bought at Nerds. Went there for feeders with no intention of coming home with a new snake. I was in the snake room there and asked one of the guys if I could hold a BP. I had never held one before. He gave me Junior to hold. He stayed in his little ball for a few minutes then just started crawling all over me exploring. He moves so slow and is so friendly. I gave him back and went to buy my feeders. I paid for them and was at the door when I decided I really liked Ball Pythons. I went back to the snake room and asked to buy one and the guy goes sure what one would you like and started opening drawers. I told him there's only one I want. They one I held for almost 1/2 and hour. Junior is and 08 and is still the best little guy.

#3 Would be Gus. Little Gus as I refer to him is my Butter Motley corn. He was given to me
as a non feeder. I used to have to tuna scent his meals and coax him to eat. He is now getting bigger with every meal and is up to 2 pinks a week and is already eating before I put his deli cup down. He is also so handsome and friendly. He will always mean a lot to me.

I tend to talk a lot when it comes to my animals so excuse how long this was.

My favorite is the Indigo. He is a very different sort of character than all the others I have. I was concerned that his care would be quite a bit harder than the corns, but I'm not really finding that to be the case. Yeah I've moaned a bit about the messes, but that's not up there with having difficult to keep humidity and temp needs, or being a picky eater. He's actually training me to be a better snake keeper in a way, since I now change and wash the corns bins about twice as often as I used to. As long as I have the cleaning gear out, right?
When Jen and I were first talking to the breeder about them he asked me, "How many snakes do you have?" I told him about 15. He told me, "Once you have an Eastern Indigo, he'll be your favorite, you probably won't feel that you need as many". I think he was right. I still look at pictures of everything I don't have, and drool over them, but I very rarely think, "I gotta' have one of those!"
