Feeders/Breeding stock wanted

Sisuitl

I dig'em!
I have made the decision to start raising a few feeders to cut down on the costs of feeding my little "family". The problem, I can't stand albino mice, they seriously give me the willies! And that is all the local pet stores carry....

I am looking for some healthy young fancy mice to start a small breeding colony. If anybody knows where I can find some in western washington please let me know. The closer to Olympia the better.

What?!?!?!

you don't like albino mice? :eek1:

just kidding! Myself, that's the majority of what I raise. Very high majority! Many people feel since they are all albino, you don't tend to have anyone stick out in your mind as more cute, ect. Thus easier to feed stuff your not so attatched to.

But for me, my white mice out produce any of the colored mice I've tried to raise. There is low incidence of cannibalism, no obesity with age. Only seen two mice with tumors in the last two years. And they seem to start up with ten to fifteen babies in a litter!!!

So I've pretty much stuck with this group and not wanting to add in which could cause new bacteria to get into my strain and cause trouble. What I'd suggest is start out with a couple small groups and always hold back babies from your best producing females. Try to keep an idea of how that is. In time you should have your own strain and with some keeping track, will improve your strain over time. Good luck!

Pets and Pals in Lakewood and University Place carry fancies and breeds them for feeders. I would try the one in UP first. They always have some nice looking mice.
