feeding like crazy vs. waste of nutrients

My snake has really been taking down mice, he can eat easily every other day should i keep feeding him that so he grows faster or is it a waste of nutrients? also i was having a lot more success feeding my f/t mice by dangling it in front of my snakes face, he takes them down much quicker as opposed to when i would just place the mouse in his feeding cage and he would circle and cirlce and circle the cage untill he finally found the mice and ate it. He eats much faster when i dangle it from his face, basically as soon as he gets in his feeding tank, how many others do this??

Feeding every other day is wayyyyyy to often. Search "power feeding" and see why. Corns are opportunistic feeders and will eat until they explode (well not really, but you get the idea).

One thing to consider about the way you feed, If he eats without having to tease I would make him get the exercise by "hunting" for the mouse. I have one corn I tease for now, only because she is in transition from live to F/T (I got her as a 2yo and was only fed live previously). The most important thing is that he is eating, but don't over feed.

Welcome BTW. :wavey:

If your corn seems hungry again soon after eating you might want to consider increasing the size of it's prey animals. You didn't say the size of your corn or the size of the meals you are giving. A corn should be eating prey 1 1/2 times the girth of the snake, and remember that mice squish down in size once eaten. Try giving your corn a size or two bigger prey item, but just once a week, power feeding is a no no. With a good sized meal in their bellies my corns are curled up digesting for a good three of four days, not roaming around looking for more food.

the ones im feeding him now hane hair on them they arent full size yet my corn is about 4 months old bout 22 inches

Well that sounds like a good size for your snake.

Try to feed NO MORE OFTEN THEN EVERY 4TH DAY. Every 5-7 days is better still.
