feeding newborn ?'s

so befor my eggs are even here. when the time comes to need the feeders i dont want to be stuck with hungry babies, waiting for a shipment. i want to order from mice direct, but the shipping calculator said its 107$ to ship them!!

its only 7$ for the 100 little pinks. is this correct? is there any other place i can get the small pinks from?

are these small pinks ideal for feeding the new baby snakes? or should i just get regular pinkies?

I think you start feeding them after 2 weeks or after your first shed... not sure. I would recommend the extra small pinks (or new born mice called reds) since that would be easier for a hatchling corn to eat and digest (especially with slits).

Anyway, Rodent Pro has small pinks you could get, but if you don't have a lot of clutches getting ready to hatch, I would either buy pinks from the local store or get started on breeding your own mice and taking the new born pinks right away and freezing them.

Yup, hatchlings eat after their first shed, which is usually 7-10 days after they hatch.

Small pinks are fine for first feeds, unless you have a batch of exceptionally tiny hatchlings. I've never slit them myself, but other breeders recommend it so there'd be no harm doing it and it might bring advantages with digestion. Can't say I've ever had a problem though and it's usually done with problem feeders or following a regurge.

Hopefully someone in your area will be able to advise of a supplier with more manageable shipping costs, if you don't have a reliable store locally.

looks like im going to go around asking my LPS's if they carry reds that are frozen. one of the pet stores has a girl that breeds corns. she is my source of most my knowledge. her and a lot of online literature. im sure she'll carry or be able to get them though. thanks guys.
