Feeding problem

hey, a while back i posted about my snake being really small for her age. and i got some really good responses that i need to feed her bigger mice than pinkies. i was feeding her 2 pinkies and shes almost a year now. i had to wait till i could feed her cuz she was shedding, and now shes done. so i call the pet store (the only one we have) and the guy tells me that they only carry pinkies and adult mice. i told him that i need bigger ones but he said that they dont carry them. he kept insistin that 4 pinkies was the best thing to do and there was no problem with it, but im pretty sure that i heard that its bad to keep feeding them a lot of pinkies. i just wanted to you alls opinion on this, is it good to do that???? and what should i do???? buying bulks is out of the question, my parents dont like the idea of having dead mice in the freezer. this same guy is the one that i had to argue with to sell me a heat pad cuz he thot that the heat rock was a much safer thing to have.

well thnx for your time and l8erz

I was once told by a bp breeder that feeding multiple small meals (like 3 - 5) took more energy to digest and therefore forfeited the extra calories you were trying to give them. Fewer, but larger meals took less digesting (bones and such) and had more leftover calories to help promote growth. Can't swear by this but just a thought.

yea thats what i thot, well not that exactly but that feeding a lot isnt healthy.
but the stupid pet store guy kept insisting me buy 4, there is one other petstore but it on the complete otherside of town, and its gonna suck to go there once a week (especially with the gas being 2.50 right now)........well hopefully i can convince my parents to get the bulk. one las thing, ive always fed her live mice. will she take the dead mice?????

Pinkies do have less nutritional value than the next sizes up. There is a great post with very detailed nutritional content for the different sizes.

How far are you from a larger town or any town that might have pet shops that sell more than just pinkies and adults? I would try to avoid only feeding pinkies.

Calmly talk to your parents about buying bulk. Much cheaper. Or go to another pet store which I know can be miles away.

Don't listen to the guy at the pet store, because the customer is always right. You bought something didn't you! A UTH. So what's his problem.

Also I think fifty fuzzy should only take up about a 6"x6" area in freezer.
I think you should go from one pinky to two then one fuzzy to two and so on.
Just my thoughts

Good Luck  .
